We got to bring Dakota home on Wednesday, October 12th and we were so excited!! Cody drove about 4 MPH and we both couldn't believe how badly everyone was driving (paranoid new parent syndrome I'm sure). The transition from hospital to home was very easy, we are so lucky. All either of us can do is stare at him :) He is such an easy baby, we love being parents!
Biggest Adventure Yet!
Our little family of two has expanded to three! Cody and I are parents!!! Our sweet little boy, Dakota William Moffat, was born on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 4:42 p.m. He was 8 lbs. 1 oz. and 19 1/2 inches long. He is the first grandchild on both sides of the family, the Moffat's and the Lee's. So needless to say, he is already very loved and very spoiled! I'm pretty sure all members of both families, especially me and Cody, are absolutely obsessed with this little guy. He is an extremely calm and content baby, with a full head of auburn hair (rat tail included). I love him so much! He has brought nothing but the greatest happiness to our lives.
IT'S A BOY!....I knew it :)
On Saturday, Cody and I went to Fetal Studios for a gender determination appointment. Well.....we were both right!! Little Dakota Moffat is the one growing inside my belly. The doctor who performed the ultrasound was amazing. He showed us all ten fingers and toes. He even showed us the blood flow to the baby and how all of his organs were functioning properly. I was stuck in a state of permanent massive grin and utter amazement for the entire thing. He was moving, waving, yawning and touching his face. I was instantly in love with my soon to be son. I am so excited and just continuing to prepare everyday for our little arrival!
Things I am experiencing now at 16 weeks:
- More energy
- THIRSTY all the time.
- Frequent trips to the bathroom
- Stomach is much harder and more round.
- I have been craving: fruit juices, all mexican food, and warm bread!
According to the Dr. I should be feeling the baby move any day now and I absolutely cannot wait!
My Sweet Dakota,
Well yesterday is the day your dad and I found out you are a boy! We were both so excited and already knew what to expect. I had a dream you were a precious little boy before I even knew I was pregnant with you. Some of your aunts, and Grandma Lee kept betting that you were a girl, but your dad and I knew the entire time you weren't. Seeing you on that monitor was one of the most special moments of my life. You waved at us and we were able to see all five of your fingers. Then you arched your back and slowly yawned and all I could do was smile. You are already so handsome!
I want you to know that you are being born into a very loving family. I love your daddy so much. He is an amazing man you will be proud to look up to throughout your life. Please do. We love each other more than I could ever say, and we both already love you even more. You have unbelievable grandparents, aunts and uncles all of whom love you too. Daddy and I, along with all of them, cannot wait to meet you.
You will be our oldest child, and the oldest grandchild on both sides of our family. Those may seem like some big shoes to fill, but I know with all my heart you are the best person for this role. Your younger brothers and sisters, and also younger cousins will always look up to you. I know you are going to be the best example they could ever ask for.
I must admit, I am a little bit nervous. But I know your dad and I will do our very best to raise you and prepare you for the lives to come. We have both experienced many things in our lives. I hope and pray that you will learn from us and someday experience as much joy as I am experiencing now. I have never been happier than I am at this time. I have the best husband I could ever dream of and we are expecting our first little baby. You make me so happy Dakota. I love you sweet boy.
Love always, Your mommy

Growing Belly.....oh boy!
Hello everyone! So I've been slacking.....I apologize. Here is a picture of our beautiful baby at our 12 week appointment!! I am in love. Right now, we are 14 weeks and it's becoming visibly apparent:) MY STOMACH IS GETTING BIGGER!! I was a little self conscience of it at first, but now I love it. Our baby is healthy and growing at the exact rate he should be! (Or she!) I still feel like it's a boy, but we're not sure just yet.
Things I've been experiencing lately:
Things I've been experiencing lately:
- Craving smothered burritos, blueberry muffins, french fries, and orange juice! (None of that together!)
- Morning sickness is almost COMPLETELY gone!! Hallelujah.
- Super sleepy and exhausted during the afternoons.
- Always, always, always thirsty!
- More hungry than usual.
- Sore abdominal muscles from stretching.
I cannot wait to find out the gender, and I am also dying to start feeling my baby moving!!!
Baby On Board!
If you've heard any rumors about me being pregnant lately....they're all true! A little baby Moffat will join Cody and I in just a short 7 months :) This ultrasound was taken at our first prenatal appointment last week. Here the sweet bundle of joy is 8 weeks and 2 days, but is now 9 weeks and 3 days!! Our estimated due date is October 9th, we absolutely cannot wait for that time to arrive.
Our next appointment is the 28th, which will be during week 12. I'm so excited for a more clear photo of this sweet baby at that next visit :)
Just to put the curiosity to rest, our pregnancy was 100% planned. Originally, we talked about waiting a year or so after we were married to begin trying, but things suddenly took a different direction. About a week before Thanksgiving I felt very wrong about taking that little pill I took every morning. I couldn't explain the feeling at the time, but needless to say I followed my gut instinct. When Cody got home from work that night I told him what had happened. We talked about it for hours and spent several days deciding whether this was the right choice or not. Both of us were given the same, certain answer. "Try for a baby now!"
We had a couple unsuccessful attempts, both of which we learned from and continued on. Now we couldn't be happier with the health and development of this precious gift we created together!

My New Obsession
So there's this thing that I am now obsessed with....Zumba! Cody and I just bought gym memberships where they have Zumba classes every single night. It is my new heaven. Of course I would love anywhere I could go dance for an hour though. The part that I have to just laugh off is when we're doing some crazy hip shaking movement and I see Cody spying on me...Ha I love Zumba!
Becoming Film Makers
Recently Cody and I had a night at home without any plans. We were a little bored trying to decide what to do, until he made the suggestion, "Let's make a movie!" I must admit that the final product wasn't too bad for our first time attempting this project. What's even better is that we both look like complete fools. It's hilarious! I cannot help but die laughing every time I watch it. End result, success.
